WEEE & batteries

If you place electrical or electronic equipment on the market, you carry producer obligations that sit alongside your packaging ones - a whole separate compliance stream, with its own registrations, its own reports and its own fees. The WEEE & batteries module tracks that stream in the same workspace as your packaging, so you have one place to see everything you owe, per market.

What this module covers​

WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) is a distinct EPR stream from packaging. Selling electricals rarely removes your packaging obligations - it adds to them. This module reads the brain's dedicated weee stream and shows, market by market:

The header badge on each market counts its mandatory obligations - those of kind registration, data report or fee payment - so you can see at a glance where the heavier commitments sit.

:::note WEEE is not packaging Packaging EPR and WEEE are separate schemes, run by separate bodies, with separate deadlines. Oblifee keeps them side by side but never conflates them - a figure in this module always belongs to the WEEE stream. :::

How a market is built​

For each market, Oblifee reads the brain's WEEE registration paths to learn the market's name, status and regulator, then attaches every WEEE obligation the brain holds for that market. Markets appear here because the brain knows a WEEE registration path for them - not because you have shipped there. That makes the page a complete reference you can plan against.

Reading an obligation​

Every obligation row carries:

  • A kind tag - registration, data report, fee payment, plan or threshold note.
  • The obligation name and, where relevant, its periodicity and next due date.
  • An optional note in plain language.
  • Citations - one or more links straight to the source rule, so any figure can be checked.

Each figure carries the brain's confidence label so you always know whether it is confirmed, illustrative or an estimate. See Confidence & citations for exactly what those labels mean.

Batteries - an emerging stream​

The EU Batteries Regulation and national battery producer schemes are tracked as a separate, emerging stream. Where the brain holds jurisdictions for batteries, the module names them so you can see the shape of what is coming, even before the detailed fee and obligation facts are loaded. As the brain's battery coverage fills in, it appears here automatically - you do not need to do anything.
