How Obli stays grounded
Obli is not a chatbot answering from memory. Every answer is built from live lookups against your workspace and the regulatory brain - the same queries the dashboard and compliance screens use. This page explains how that works and what it means for your privacy.
Answers come from tool calls
When you ask a question, Obli decides which of a small set of tools it needs, calls them against your data, reads the results, and only then writes its reply. It can take several such steps in one turn - look up your position, then the rules for a market it mentions, then answer.
| Tool | What it fetches |
|---|---|
| Position | Your current markets, tonnage, estimated fees, statuses, alerts and obligations due soon. |
| Obligations | Registration, reporting and payment obligations per market, with due dates, thresholds and citations. |
| Registration guidance | The regulator, where to register, and the registration obligations per market. |
| Forecast | Projected obligations and fees at your current run rate, plus upcoming dated rate changes. |
| Savings analysis | Where your fees come from and what could reduce them - eco-modulation headroom, cheaper materials, weight-reduction scenarios. |
| Market lookup | The cited regulatory detail for one market: summary, regulator, current rates with statuses and citations. |
| Docs search | Searches this documentation site for how to do something in Oblifee, and links you to the exact page. |
Because the figures come from these tools, Obli can cite them - it tells you the market's own currency, the confidence status behind a rate, and points you at the regulator for anything you would file.
:::tip Walking you through the how-to As well as answering questions about your data, Obli searches these documentation pages and links you to the exact one - so it can walk you step by step through how to do something in Oblifee, not just tell you the numbers. Ask it "how do I add a business?" or "where do I import products?" and it will point you to the right screen and page. :::
When something goes wrong
Obli is honest about failure rather than guessing:
- If a data lookup fails, it tells you the figure is temporarily unavailable instead of inventing one.
- If the model is briefly overloaded, it retries; if it still cannot answer, it says so - and that turn does not count against your daily allowance.
Your privacy
- Obli sees only your workspace. It cannot read another customer's data.
- Your conversations and data are not used to train AI models.
- The daily message history it keeps is scoped to you and can be cleared at any time from the Clear button in the Obli panel.
For how Oblifee isolates and protects workspace data more broadly, see Security & trust.
